Millbrook Senior Citizens:
A Partnership between Millbrook at Home and Church Alliance Senior Housing
The MSC Fellow will help launch Millbrook at Home (MatH), a cutting-edge volunteer network of senior citizens seeking to age in place with dignity and joy, part of a nationwide movement of Village-to-Village networks. The MEC Coordinator will also work with senior citizens living in Church Alliance Apartments, 36 units of senior affordable housing, by providing logistical support and a ministry of listening and care. This position combines program development and relationship-building in a flexible work environment.
Coordinator of Millbrook at Home (MatH) — 20 hours weekly
Programming
Assist the Program Committee in the development and execution of the monthly First Friday Lunches and monthly Coffee and Connections
Assist in the development of additional programming as determined by the Program Committee
Serve as coordinator of services and events as determined by Board President
Membership
Work with the Board to develop a membership plan and the strategies needed to implement that plan. The membership plan should recognize the differing needs of senior citizens in the greater Millbrook area.
Conduct outreach to potential new members in the village of Millbrook, town of Washington, and surrounding areas.
Identify prospective new members and follow up with meetings and visits.
Conduct intake interviews with new members; register their interests, offerings, and needs in a data management system.
Communications
Support part-time Communications Manager in developing and maintaining online presence of MatH (website, social media, etc.)
Work with Board to identify other forms of communication for members and community (newsletters, mailings, printed materials).
Work with Communications Manager to develop and execute a press strategy (submit press releases, arrange interviews, attend networking events, distribute printed materials in public venues).
Network with other local organizations, churches, senior groups, etc., and serve as a responsible representative of Millbrook at Home.
Reporting
Meet regularly with Board President and/or appointed Board representative for assignment of tasks and evaluation of progress
Serve as secretary at monthly board meetings; take minutes, prepare necessary reports. At these monthly board meetings also present on progress.
Keep a spreadsheet of weekly hours and submit to supervisors and Grace Year program director
Manage necessary reporting to funders and donors
Residential Services Assistant to Church Alliance of Millbrook — 10 hours weekly
Build relationships with the residents of 36 senior affordable housing units (Church Alliance of Millbrook and and Church Alliance Gardens)
Assist with transportation for scheduled outings as approved by supervisor and to Millbrook at Home events
Provide logistical support for meetings and events held at the Church Alliance of Millbrook Community Room, such as set-up, clean-up, promotion, etc.; as well as at off-site events as needed.
