Eligibility criteria:
All applicants must:
- Be ages 21-29 on the first day of your Grace Year.
- Have completed your undergraduate degree. Grace Year is not for the year before college, or taking a year off from college. However, Grace Year is a wonderful "gap year" or "grace period" between your undergraduate and graduate or working years.
- You must be able to live for the entire fellowship period in the fellows’ house. A spouse, partner, child, or other dependent may not join you at Grace Year. Of course, reasonable accommodations will be made for those with accessibility needs.
- You must possess a valid, unsuspended United States' driver's license on the first day of your Grace Year. (If you don’t know how to drive, you’d better get started!) Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.
- Certain service work positions might have their own eligibility criteria, such as Spanish language fluency or experience in a given field.
- Some of our service work positions can accept undocumented fellows. If you are currently undocumented or anticipate that you will become undocumented during the fellowship period, please reach out to us to discuss opportunities.
- You may apply more than once. If you are not admitted into a Grace Year cohort for the first year that you apply, we encourage you to apply again as long as you remain eligible.
